Candles are not just a source of light; they create a cozy and inviting atmosphere in your home. To ensure you get the most out of your candles and enjoy them safely, proper candle care is essential. In this ultimate candle care guide, we'll share tips and techniques to help you extend the life of your candles and maximize their fragrance.

  1. Choosing the Right Candle:

    • Start by selecting high-quality candles made from natural ingredients like soy or beeswax, as they tend to burn cleaner and longer.
    • Consider the fragrance. Choose scents that complement the mood or season in your home.
  2. Trim the Wick:

    • Before each use, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch (6mm). This helps prevent soot and ensures an even burn.
  3. The First Burn:

    • When lighting a new candle, allow it to burn until the entire surface melts. This prevents tunneling, where the candle burns down the center and leaves unused wax along the edges.
  4. Burn Time:

    • Keep your candle burning for no more than 3-4 hours at a time to avoid overheating. Extinguish the candle and let it cool before relighting.
  5. Candle Placement:

    • Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, children, and pets.
    • Use a candle holder or tray to catch any drips or wax overflow.
  6. Extinguish Safely:

    • Use a snuffer or gently blow out the candle to prevent hot wax from splattering.
    • Avoid using the lid to extinguish the flame, as it can trap smoke and cause soot.
  7. Preventing Soot:

    • To reduce soot, keep the wick trimmed, and avoid placing the candle in a drafty area.
    • Regularly clean the wick's debris to maintain a clean burn.
  8. Reusing Candle Jars:

    • After the candle is burned, clean the jar and repurpose it for storage, decoration, or as a new candle vessel.
  9. Storing Candles:

    • Store your candles in a cool, dark place to preserve their fragrance and color.
  10. Safety First:

    • Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and safety guidelines provided with your candles.

Remember, proper candle care not only enhances the overall experience but also ensures safety. Enjoy the warm and soothing ambiance of your candles while extending their life and fragrance.
